a little about Pascalle.
While born in the Netherlands, Pascalle de Jager (1992) lived the formative years of her childhood in Singapore. After moving back to the Netherlands at age 11, her time in South East Asia has shaped her outlooks and influenced her aesthetic greatly. Upon graduating her Bachelors of the Arts at the Willem De Kooning Academy in Rotterdam in 2018, she has since been part of several art residencies and exhibitions. In 2019 Pascalle co-founded Studio MEPP, a ceramic studio in Rotterdam through which she expands her art practice and shares her love and experience with others while teaching courses in throwing behind the wheel, mold making, glazing, and sculpting.
Pascalle’s art practice centers around the ways the digital realm affects our relationship with our physical selves, our surroundings, and each other. She believes there is a deeper truth to find in genuine human emotions and connection, which sometimes seems to get lost in the spectacle of (digital) society. By juxtaposing ceramics and digital culture, Pascalle explores their boundaries and influences, using the legacy of the old masters and their cultural heritage to give form to her observations.
